Second Best Alternative to Loneliness was the direct result of using the meticulous and time-consuming processes of embroidery and quilting as a means to suppressed desire and attempt to control emotional longing. A line taken directly from a conversation, the title makes reference to personal narratives while the use of the blanket and the color white draw on universal themes of intimacy, familiarity, and morality.
